Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Surgery

Cosmetic surgery of the eyes, called Blepharoplasty, is designed to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. Blepharoplasty at Sargent Plastic Surgery in Salt Lake City and Bountiful, Utah, can give your eyes a more rested, youthful appearance. Excess skin is removed, the underlying muscle is tightened in the lower eyelid with repositioning of fat to decrease the appearance of puffiness or bags.

Who Is A Candidate For Eyelid Surgery?

Aging affects the appearance of the eyelid in both men and women. If you’re healthy with no serious eye diseases, you could be a candidate if you have:

  • Loose or sagging skin

  • Excess skin in the upper eyelids hanging over lid margin, sometimes obstructing vision

  • Excess fat deposits in your eyelids

  • Bags in lower eyelids

  • Excess skin and wrinkling in the lower eyelid

About The Procedure

Upper eyelid aging can be reversed by making an incision in a natural crease of the upper eyelid removing excess skin, tightening the muscle, and repositioning or removing excess fat deposits. The scar is usually hidden in a crease of the upper eyelid.

For lower eyelids, the incision is usually made just beneath the lashes. The fat is repositioned, the muscles tightened and excess skin removed. All this is designed to improve skin wrinkling, puffiness or bags in the lower eyelids.
